MBH Motorsports was born based on the idea of making the best available long tube header systems and exhaust components you could get your Mercedes. They took that idea and ran with it. Using only the best materials, the best equipment, and the best fabrication techniques.
In each set on MBH Motorsports long tube headers and down pipes, they use heavy, 16 gauge (0.650) wall, 304 stainless steel tubing. The header flange they use is 3/8″ thick, 321 stainless steel. Knowing the power the AMG models are capable of putting out, they feel it s important to use a header flange than is made from quality materials.
MBH 4 into 1 merge collectors (also made of the same 16 gauge, 304 stainless steel) all use a merge spike/pyramid inside, to help increase scavenging. This makes for a header that builds more power and and more efficient than others on the market. Each header is precision TIG welded, using TIG rod. Others choose to fuse weld, or even MIG weld their headers. Fuse welding headers robs material from both joints being welded, making for a weaker, thinner joint. When it comes to headers that truly are build to last a lifetime, TIG welding with rod is critical.
Beware of what is out there when it comes to choosing headers or down pipes for your Mercedes Benz. There are headers that use thin-walled 18 gauge stainless steel, MIG weld collectors on, made from cheap mild steel.
